广州, 长安,东莞 in a glance! - Day 2

Day 2
After a good night sleep, I feel so fresh in the morning and look forward to the exciting day ahead.  The weather is good and i am so excited about this country.  I never been to a country which practice communism before, heard so much about this place but nothing beats experiencing it yourself.

Traffic

"Havoc" is the word to describe the traffic situation here.  China practice Left hand drive so it feel so weird on the road as i always think we are heading into the wrong traffic direction.  Bicycle, Tricycle, bus, trucks, pedestrian all share the 2 or 3 lane road.  Over here the taxis basically stop everywhere, sometimes totally blocking the traffic.  Over here, you can horn, curse and rude gesture(Malaysian are the expert in these) but the local population do not give a hoot about it, they just mind their own business(continue to block the traffic and irritate the shit out of you...haw haw).

The general rule about the traffic law here is: "Big car hit small car, big car wrong" maybe you will scream: hey! but the small car flouted traffic law! Well..too bad.. this is the way the government use to minimize accident because if not, all the big macho car will run down all the bicycle and tricycles!

All working expatriate here hire a driver to fetch them to work and meetings.  avoid driving here at all cost.

Drunk driving here attracts 15 days police lockup first before they fine you or compound your licence.  Police lock up at a country where human rights is still at its very infancy are no joke! it makes the ones in Malaysia feels like 5 star facilities...

Another tips for potential driver - If you hit a pedestrian, hopefully you kill the fella on the spot! it will be easier this way as human life in China is cheap.  If not, his/her whole family/village will camp at your house to demand compensation!

Distance

We all know China is a very big country, but how we judge whether a destination is far or near?  As a guideline, if you were told that the destination is about 20-30 minutes drive, it is nearby.  If you were told you need to spend arount 1.5 hours to 2 hours in a car to reach your destination, it is a norm here.  People here commute 1.5 - 2 hours for an appointment everyday.

New hotel room
Since the first hotel room was quite errie and not so comfortable, we were checked into another hotel call 美伦商务酒店.  This hotel was quite near to Chang An industrial estate and recently refurbished.  The room rate came with daily buffet breakfast at RMB 168.00.  Buffet was very uncommon over here and at this price, it was a good bargain.  Another Tip: You could actually bargained at the front desk for more breakfast voucher(for your friend, in-law, parent and whoever).  we managed to obtain 5 breakfast voucher instead of 2!!! If you were unsuccessful for this freebies, try again with different front desk receptionist at a later time.  we managed to get more than 2 breakfast voucher for our whole stay.

So how is the room?   Fantastic...for the price we paid, it was much better than some 4 star or even 5 star hotels

Cozy...fully equipped.

  Kinky shower cubicle....

Rain shower...woo..hoo...syok!
