广州, 长安 ,东莞 in a glance! - Day 3 & 4

Day 3 & 4
The last 2 days of our trip were spent on travelling between office and customers place.  since 长安 was only an industrial town, it was totally void of any touristy place for us to visit.  And the landscape of this industrial town is almost identical where ever you go, it was so boring.. gloomy + polluted weather almost the entire trip we were here.

If i was to spend a coupler of weeks here, i would need a high speed internet connection and a PS3 game console is a must.  The interest of watching chinese serial drama series must be cultivated!!

Morning sun

Morning view from my room

Checked out the smog and the haze!

In 广州 everything is big..the above is one of the many high end condominium project.  The ultra rich here do not buy a single unit or a single floor, they will buy the whole block!

广州, 长安,东莞 in a glance! - Day 2

Day 2
After a good night sleep, I feel so fresh in the morning and look forward to the exciting day ahead.  The weather is good and i am so excited about this country.  I never been to a country which practice communism before, heard so much about this place but nothing beats experiencing it yourself.

The Maze begins

Traffic

"Havoc" is the word to describe the traffic situation here.  China practice Left hand drive so it feel so weird on the road as i always think we are heading into the wrong traffic direction.  Bicycle, Tricycle, bus, trucks, pedestrian all share the 2 or 3 lane road.  Over here the taxis basically stop everywhere, sometimes totally blocking the traffic.  Over here, you can horn, curse and rude gesture(Malaysian are the expert in these) but the local population do not give a hoot about it, they just mind their own business(continue to block the traffic and irritate the shit out of you...haw haw).

The general rule about the traffic law here is: "Big car hit small car, big car wrong" maybe you will scream: hey! but the small car flouted traffic law! Well..too bad.. this is the way the government use to minimize accident because if not, all the big macho car will run down all the bicycle and tricycles!

All working expatriate here hire a driver to fetch them to work and meetings.  avoid driving here at all cost.

Drunk driving here attracts 15 days police lockup first before they fine you or compound your licence.  Police lock up at a country where human rights is still at its very infancy are no joke! it makes the ones in Malaysia feels like 5 star facilities...

Another tips for potential driver - If you hit a pedestrian, hopefully you kill the fella on the spot! it will be easier this way as human life in China is cheap.  If not, his/her whole family/village will camp at your house to demand compensation!

Vroom...vroom.... at 龙闶

  Ambulance?

Distance

We all know China is a very big country, but how we judge whether a destination is far or near?  As a guideline, if you were told that the destination is about 20-30 minutes drive, it is nearby.  If you were told you need to spend arount 1.5 hours to 2 hours in a car to reach your destination, it is a norm here.  People here commute 1.5 - 2 hours for an appointment everyday.

New hotel room
Since the first hotel room was quite errie and not so comfortable, we were checked into another hotel call 美伦商务酒店.  This hotel was quite near to Chang An industrial estate and recently refurbished.  The room rate came with daily buffet breakfast at RMB 168.00.  Buffet was very uncommon over here and at this price, it was a good bargain.  Another Tip: You could actually bargained at the front desk for more breakfast voucher(for your friend, in-law, parent and whoever).  we managed to obtain 5 breakfast voucher instead of 2!!! If you were unsuccessful for this freebies, try again with different front desk receptionist at a later time.  we managed to get more than 2 breakfast voucher for our whole stay.

So how is the room?   Fantastic...for the price we paid, it was much better than some 4 star or even 5 star hotels

Cozy...fully equipped.

  Kinky shower cubicle....

Rain shower...woo..hoo...syok!

广州, 长安,东莞 in a glance! - Day 1

I was always on the road lately due to work purposes.  Recently I also have the chance to travel to Guangzhou for a business trip.  To be more accurate, I visited Chang An 长安镇 of 东莞 city.  I have heard of these places from friend as there are famous among Malaysians as many has invested in these city.  I was there for 4 nights, relatively short for such a big place. or is it?

Before you planned a trip to Guangzhou, There is a few things you need to pay attention too:

1. Visa,  Many malaysian take this for granted as Malaysian are blessed with a passport that can enter many country in the world without any visa requirements, but not to China!

2. Bring Cash, almost all establishment do not accept foreign credit or charge card...cash is king in China.

3. Land at the correct airport.  I make a mistake by landing at Baiyun International instead of Shenzhen, Hong Kong or Macau.  Landing at the correct airport will at least save you 1 to 1.5 hours traveling time by road.

Baiyun International Airport

Day 1

Arrive late to 长安 due to my flight booking blunder of landing at Baiyun instead of shenzhen.  Thanks to pre-assign driver from company, we arrive swiftly to 长安 and after a quick late supper (well...over here there is no such thing as supper menu, and most of the people here eat in 茶餐厅 a la Hong Kong Style, the menu is really big and extensive, if you order wrongly, the portion will stuff you until tomorrow!)

Since we are so tired, we checked into our first hotel - 四喜酒店 located just next to a community hospital and the famous 长安 old 二奶村.  well the 二奶村is a place you look for well... not really for 二奶 but more for "kok kok kai."  The most creepy part about this hotel was the community hospital located next to it, because from your window, you can easily saw the patient inside and China community hospital is not your Gleneagles or Columbia Aisia type, and the sight ain't pretty.  This reason alone made up my mind to go hotel hunting first thing after work tomorrow!

四喜酒店 rooms, not so bad i would say, as i have seen worse in Malaysia

Toilet is clean, water was hot and pressure was good.  Instant noodle was cheap(for a hotel) and the satelite decoder provides you 50++ channel for your viewing pleasure......

It has been a tiring day...and immediately i Z.zzzz.zzzzzz
