Thank god, "Jalan Alor" survive. It will be a disaster if the famous Jalan Alor was rename to "Jalan Kejora!"
Yesterday night was in town to buy something, since I am not a "Fast Food" (these include, cafe, bistro, bla...bla...you name it) kinda guy, me and wifey walk over to Jalan Alor for some some "real" food.
It has been years i have stepped my foot into Jalan Alor as I always try to avoid this Mayhem-ly-Traffic Jam part of KL at all cost. The first thing that caught my attention was how touristy this road has become! it has lost some of its old charm and transformed into one brightly lit, extravaganza hawker heaven selling wannabe Penang's hawker delicacies. With "foreign" tout pulling customers with a mixture of cantonese dialects, mandarin to a more "canggih" japanese language.
We ignore all these hawkers center and try to walk to the other end of the road to have some "kung po" frog prorridge, used to be a common offerings in Jalan Alor. Unfortunately, the shop that we used to frequent before seems to vanish into thin air! either my blurish memories has failed me or the place has "chap lap". But all is not lost, we settle for another famed eatery in Jalan Alor. "Wong Ah Wah BBQ chicken wings"
We settle down on one table under a verandah and quickly ordered ourself 4 Chickie Wings, a Hokkien fried noodles for 2, grill ikan pari, and some stirred fried vege. While waiting for the food to be served, one small rodent incident make us changed to another table in the aircond section to avoid a 2nd encounter.
What happen was, I saw one huge greyish colour rat with a 12 inch tail sprinting towards our table from the far corner, eventually running thru under our table almost brushing wifey feet.(i raised my feet immediately once i saw this rodent)...jeeez...tourist eating place eh..?
The food arrive piping hot soon and the taste is good...for RM 44.00 inclusive of 2 herbal tea. Ha...not bad at all..except the little incident with a rat. Nope this is not your Ratatouile rat but a big ugly, disease infected version.
